Glue applicators: A look at new technologies and delivery systems

Artificial Content Title -- to be hidden

Messy old glue applicators are a thing of the past. Read on to learn about the latest and greatest applicator models, designed to keep glue exactly where you want it. As an added bonus, we’ll explain how to clear clogged applicators and how to avoid clogging them in the first place.

The evolution of the adhesive applicator

Applying super glue was a messy event for a long time, but those days are over! Today there are numerous new types of super glue applicator tips and delivery system designs.

Ultra-fine tip glue applicators are a common new design, as are longneck applicators that help you get into hard-to-reach places. Some models feature self-piercing caps for mess-free convenience and lids that lock into place. Loctite has developed a variety of different super glue precision applicators to make projects easier.

How to avoid clogged glue applicators

Keeping air out of the bottle and glue out of the applicator tip are key steps towards increasing the longevity of your glue bottle. Here’s the best method for ensuring your fine tip glue applicator doesn’t get clogged.

After you’ve finished using super glue…

  1. Tilt the bottle upright and tap the bottom against a table. Doing so will help the remaining drops of glue leave the applicator.
  2. Holding the bottle upright, carefully squeeze the bottle to make sure the applicator is clear. Take care not to squirt the glue out of the tip.
  3. Wipe the tip of the glue applicator with a paper towel dipped in acetone.
  4. Cap the bottle tightly and store it upright in a cool, dry place.

Loctite Super Glue Precision Pen is specially designed for optimal control, so you have a precision glue applicator at hand whenever you need it. Its ergonomic design and fine tip glue applicator, including side squeeze technology, allow for a comfortable hold and precise application every time. As an added bonus, the product’s gel-like consistency ensures it won’t run or drip, making it perfect for vertical applications.

Another innovative glue applicator brought to us by Loctite scientists is Loctite Super Glue Brush On. This adhesive is administered with a brush, similar to nail polish. Its spill-resistant bottle prevents messy spills.
