How to glue leather to wood with contact adhesive

For making a simple repair to a leather chair or other furniture piece, contact adhesives are the way to go. All you need is a small wooden or plastic stick to apply the adhesive. 

Here’s how to attach leather to wood with contact adhesive.

  1. Clean the surfaces and make sure they’re dry. 
  2. Pre-fit materials before beginning.
  3. Apply a thin layer of Loctite Stik’N Seal to both surfaces using a small flat plastic or wooden stick.
  4. Wait 5-10 minutes for the adhesive to become tacky.
  5. Press parts together firmly and leave undisturbed for at least 2 hours. Full cure in 24 hours. 


Clean up your tools and any residue with warm soapy water. Cured adhesive can be carefully cut away with a sharp tool.
