You can adapt many beautiful spring arts and crafts like the lovely flowers in our instructions to make them fun for all levels of skill.
Many easy spring crafts involve flowers or other elements of the awakening natural world. You can create beautiful objects from origami animals to flower bracelets using common household items.
If you are making three-dimensional spring arts and crafts or designing your own cards, chances are you will need glue to keep everything in place.
When choosing your adhesive, you must make sure it can bond to the materials used in your project. If you are crafting with children, you also need to ensure it is safe for them.
Loctite Extreme Glue has a thick consistency that is suitable for many crafting jobs. The glue is ideal for indoor projects because it does not have a strong solvent odor. Loctite Super Glue Brush-On is another excellent option for many craft materials; its built-in brush helps you evenly apply glue to textured surfaces like the coffee filters in the instructions below.
- Get what you need. Grab white coffee filters, liquid watercolors/food coloring, water for dilution (if needed), scissors, absorption-resistant trays, eyedropper, glue, and pipe cleaners/wires.
- Prepare filters. Flatten the filters, lay two on top of each other, and fold them in half 4 times to make a narrow wedge shape.
- Cut petals. Cut an arch into the filters about 1/3 of the way down, then unfold the filters and cut 2/3 down the folded lines towards the center.
- Color petals. Lay the filters flat in a tray/dish. Use an eyedropper to add only as much liquid watercolor or diluted food coloring as you need to color the flower; there should be little overflow into the tray. Carefully transfer the flower to an absorption-resistant surface, such as a plastic tray, and let it dry.
- Create the bloom. Carefully separate the filters. Gather one up and crimp/twist it together, then fluff the petals a bit. Now take the second filter and wrap it around the outside of the first. You can glue them together at the base.
- Attach the stem. Glue the blooms to a green pipe cleaner or wire.
