Loctite’s team step into a condemned home in Cleveland, Ohio. The home presents a challenge our team doesn’t expect. However, it is a challenge we are willing to undertake to give it a Second Chance.

Through our Second Chance project, we will breathe new life into a condemned home, allowing a deserving family to have a safe place to call home.

The journey from destruction to home will be a long one. From the first tour, everyone concludes that the project is more extensive than anyone had anticipates. Our initial tour reveals a sobering list of issues including:

  • Severe water damage on one floor
  • Structural issues
  • A general state of disrepair or overall deterioration
  • Declared condemned

Despite these daunting challenges, our project lead, Ricky Smith, remains optimistic. He knows that the house still had soul and a rich history beneath the rough exterior. He and the team are ready to tackle the restoration.

As the project unfolds, you can expect to witness the hard work, creativity, and passion that goes into restoring this structure.

Meet the team

It would have been impossible to undertake this massive project without collaborating with a diverse, passionate, and creative team. We are grateful for each one’s participation and what they bring to the project.

Leading the group and hosting the docuseries on the Second Chance House is Ricky Smith. He is enthusiastic about community service and kindness. At his side is Armand. Armand is a seasoned general contractor and site supervisor for Habitat for Humanity.

Our DIY influencers came to town to work around the house, including:

  • Jessie Ecker: Jessie works on the fireplace, transforming it into a showstopping piece.
  • Clayton Juarez: Clayton worked on hanging drywall in the attic and insulating the area.
  • Sydney Lorence: Sydney made an accent ceiling and accent walls in each of the children’s bedrooms.
  • Chris & Yvonne Johnson: This power couple works on renovating homes together.

We also have Pros in this project including Tyler Grace, Sean Collinsgru, and Glenn Mathewson. They will each work on their own projects.

Over the next few months, we will share each influencer’s projects and how their dedication and passion for the project helps transform the home.

With each team member contributing their unique skills, we are excited to see the home transformation and positive impact we will create in the community.

The vision behind the 2nd Chance House

Based on our sustainability philosophy, we believe that every job site scrap, curbside find, or house renovation project is an opportunity to spark creative juices and reduce waste. So, our mission is fulfilled when you Say Yes to Second Chances, for people, places, and items.

We could greatly reduce the amount of waste in landfills if everyone restores daily life items instead of throwing them away due to minimal damage. The United States accounts for about 146.1 million tons of waste in landfills. However, small fixes can result in significant changes over time.

Our partnership with the Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity on this old house restoration project is a testament to this belief. We are transforming a condemned home in Cleveland, Ohio, from uninhabitable and dangerous to a welcoming space for a deserving family.

We're committed to documenting the entire journey so you can see how to restore different rooms from the bedrooms and living spaces to the exterior with simple techniques and high-quality products.

Sustainable solutions

Everything we do during the house restoration will support our commitment to sustainable techniques and materials. We prioritize eco-friendly practices in all our projects, even our innovative products share this same goal.

We'll use our advanced construction adhesives and sealants to ensure structural integrity and promote a healthier living environment. Follow us to see how each of our products will help.
