The 2nd Chance House crew has been working tirelessly to get a 100-year-old home back to its former glory. Things get real when they meet the family who will get the house after completing the project!
Over the past several months, Loctite and Habitat for Humanity have been working together on the 2nd Chance House. The project aims to renovate a condemned house for a deserving family. Various people have been working relentlessly to breathe new life into this century-old house and make it a dream home for the family who gets it.
The process of rehabilitating this house has been challenging and rewarding at the same time. The DIY team, Fine Home Building experts, and Loctite and Habitat staff is excited to see their hard work pay off as the house takes shape.
To make things better, Habitat has identified the family who will purchase the house!
Ricky Smith is buzzing to meet the family, introduce them to the 2nd Chance House crew, and give them a tour of their new house!
The 2nd Chance House project is meant to allow a deserving family with the opportunity to purchase a place they can proudly call home. All the work done by the entire renovation team has been aimed at creating a comfortable and enjoyable home for a single-parent family with a couple of kids.
As the project nears completion, Armand informs the renovation crew that Habitat has found a family for the house. The entire team couldn’t be more excited to meet the future occupants of the house!
Lyvonne is the new owner of the 2nd Chance House. She is a mother of three and a Cleveland local!
Celebrations are in order as the family makes their first visit to their new home!
As Ricky welcomes the family into their new house, it is clear how happy they all are. Lyvonne is particularly proud to be a new homeowner. Her daughter Brianna couldn’t be happier for her mother. While she says she is not one to cry, she admits seeing her mother so happy got her feeling a little emotional.
Straight away, Lyvonne makes her way to the attic, which is being repurposed into the master bedroom. Lyvonne can’t wait to decorate the space and make it her own. She plans to have a little sitting area with a massive TV on one side.
Ricky Smith and the 2nd Chance House team have poured their heart and soul into renovating this once-condemned structure. Seeing how much it means to the new family warms their heart. More importantly, Ricky hopes Lyvonne’s family appreciates all the work that has been done and takes every opportunity to pay it forward.
As a homeowner, you constantly have to do some repair work around your home now and then. Jessie Ecker, one of the DIYers working on this project, knows this all too well. She has single handedly transformed her old ‘70s house into a modern showstopper. To ensure the new occupants have what it takes to tackle any unforeseen issues, Jessie shows them how to use various Loctite products.
Five years ago, Lyvonne was forced to leave the neighborhood she called home due to rent hikes. However, she did not let this setback put her down. Speaking to Ricky, she says the only advice she would have for herself back then is to keep going and not to lose hope. She also mentioned the importance of taking advantage of available programs, which might be highly beneficial.
As a Cleveland local and previous renter in the neighborhood, Lyvonne is excited to be a first-time homeowner. While skyrocketing rents had previously forced her and her family out of this part of the city, Lyvonne is grateful for how this project by Loctite and Habitat opened up the doors to home ownership in a neighborhood that seemed out of her reach. She said it was all the more rewarding because she had to work for it.
Her daughter Brianna was also over the moon. She talked of how much she liked her new home, the décor, and everyone there. As she put it, “This is unreal!”
“It means everything to her,” Brianna says about her mother becoming a first-time homeowner. She believes her mother is a good and hardworking woman who deserves everything positive happening in her life right now.
On her part, Lyvonne is excited to live in a revamped house that is full of history. She is relishing the opportunity to make it her own and give it a new lease on life!
More importantly, the mother of three is also committed to giving back. She already has a few ideas of things she can do to revamp the community.
She is on the cusp of realizing her homeownership dreams. The family is ready to move into their new house. It is now up to the 2nd Chance House team to make this happen. From here on, the renovations team will be working at full speed, trying to complete the project and ensure that Lyvonne and her family can move into their new house as soon as possible.
