Snowflake crafts: Materials for making glittery snowflakes

Making snowflakes from paper is a simple and fun way to craft holiday decorations. This year, take the next step by adding glitter to the snowflakes. Here’s what you need to shine.

How to make a snowflake out of paper

After you’ve gathered your materials, let the fun begin! If your paper is rectangular, measure, mark and cut the paper into a perfect square.

Here’s how to make snowflakes from paper…

  1. Fold the paper square in half diagonally, pulling the upper left corner down to meet the lower right corner of the paper.
  2. Fold the paper into a triangle shape by bringing the top right corner down to meet the lower left.
  3. Fold the left side of the triangle in, the corner will extend down past the paper.
  4. Fold the right side of the triangle down. Your paper will look like an arrow with two end flags sticking out of the bottom.
  5. Cut off the bottom end flags in a straight line. You will be left with a triangle-shaped paper.
  6. Cut little shapes into the long edges of the triangle. This will form the details   of your snowflake. Be careful not to cut the triangle in half.
  7. Open the snowflake to reveal your masterpiece!
  8. Lay the snowflake flat and lightly spritz with spray adhesive (Work in a well-ventilated area).
  9. Sprinkle glitter or other decorations on the snowflake. Let it dry before flipping to the other side.
  10. Flip the snowflake over and repeat with spray adhesive and decorations.
