Bird nest DIY crafts are one of the simplest crafts to make. All you need are nest materials and a good spray adhesive. If you already have the right glue on hand, a quick walk in a park is the last step to gathering the rest of your supplies.

Bird’s nests make lovely decorations in spring time, and are a unique gift idea that won’t break the bank. They’re so easy to make, you might as well do more than one at a time!    

Here’s what you need to craft a bird’s nest…

  • A bunch of Spanish moss, long dried grass or preserved moss 
  • Small twigs and stems
  • Faux eggs
  • Feathers
  • Scissors
  • Plastic gloves
  • Loctite Spray Adhesive Multi-Purpose
  • Optional finish: spray acrylic sealant

How to make a bird’s nest craft

This DIY bird nest craft comes together in no time, here’s how to make it…

  1. Gather a bundle of Spanish moss and form into the shape of a bird’s nest. Pull and work in circular motions until the desired size and shape comes together. 
  2. Spray the nest with spray adhesive. Keep a distance of 8-10 inches, cover one side at a time, and allow dry time before placing the nest on your work surface. Wear gloves and work in a well-ventilated area.
  3. Add details like eggs, additional twigs, feathers or moss to the nest with spray adhesive. Spray a small amount of adhesive on the items and put into place. 
  4. Cover the surface of the nest with an additional layer of adhesive to secure the pieces in place. Finish with spray acrylic sealant.
